the semi-regular musings of a semi-regular dude who's trying his best to make anything-but-regular music.

8.11.2005

calling it a habit's just a nice way of calling it a rut.

i'll admit it. i'm in a bit of a rut musically. not playing or creating it (GEEZ! didn't you read my last post?!?!), but in picking new, exciting stuff to listen to.

i need help. so i'm asking for it. 10 years ago i would've asked for mixed tapes. 4 years ago i would've asked for a mix disc...

today, i'm asking for a playlist. make me a playlist. give me your favorite playlist off your ipod or hp thing or whatever.

hell, let's just turn it into a contest. here's the rules:

1. give me a playlist (no limit on number of entries per person. go ahead and stuff the box.)
2. keep the playlists to 20 songs or less.
3. get it to me by august 19th.

i'll sort through and sample them all and then i'll announce the winner the week of aug 21 through email, on this blog and my myspace page (where i'm getting ready to duplicate this post).

the winner will receive a brand new, handmade (thank you billy mercer), soon to be officially released newton dominey t-shirt. it's happy and red.

you can post the playlist here in the comments section or, if you want to be super-secret, you can email them to me at info*at*newtondominey*dot*net. just put the appropriate symbols between the astericeses.

excited? i am.

ready...go!

You better believe I'll be playing along with this game. Woo-hoo!

Except first, I have a birthday to celebrate. This is the big 2-7...does that mean good things will come?

It's actually Sunday. But big celebrations are going on Saturday. You and the wife should join us (Julie, Jag, & others) for some dinner and drinks. Then maybe we could Basement it.

Holla at a sissa if you guys are free.

Ok, I started this with what was on my playlist at work, but somehow it ended up being more or less a high school/college reminiscence and possible slightly depressing. I may follow up with a more upbeat collection, but I'm definitely going to have to burn this sucker.

Lonely People – America
Dizz Knee Land – Dada
Don’t Follow – Alice In Chains
Nearly Lost You There – Screaming Trees
Blind Melon – Change
Burden In My Hand – Soundgarden
Jane Says (Acoustic) – Jane’s Addiction
Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right – Peter, Paul & Mary
Nashville – Indigo Girls
Bye Bye Blackbird – Joe Cocker
My Sweet Annette – Drive By Truckers
Between Two Worlds – Shawn Colvin
Someday – Concrete Blonde
Burn – The Cure
Bittersweet – Big Head Todd & The Monsters
Dead – They Might Be Giants
These Days – Nico
In Your Eyes – Peter Gabriel
Used To Love Her – Guns & Roses
Her Majesty - Beatles
