clearing the cobwebs

sorry i haven't had much to say lately. it's been a hectic few weeks since getting back from maui (it HAS been a few weeks hasn't it?). i don't think jetlag's supposed to last this long, but i still feel out of sorts since we got back. maybe it's just exhaustion. if there's one thing i'm certain of, its that i'm exhausted. and tired. mentally and physically.

i think my body's actually breaking down in revolt. i won't go into an exhaustive list, but it takes 2 hands to count the different aches and noises that currently exist within my 76 inches of newton-ness.

so anyway, here's what's on my mind:

-i appreciate everyone that made it out to the show wednesday nite, honest i do. like i said in my little sermon on supporting local music, i truly hope that you were entertained and had a good time. knowing you guys are digging it makes all the effort that goes into the songs and the "business" side of things worthwhile. those of you that couldn't make it - you were missed. i'll be playing again at the basement on the 26th of april (tentatively), hopefully you can make

-despite the exhaustion, i went out to mercy lounge last nite to see my friends strays don't sleep and garrison starr. it's a good thing that i'm married, because if not i'd be in love with g starr. she rocks my ass. it was good hanging with her and the strays. they're both getting ready to be out on the road for a while in support of new records. jealous.

seriously, the strays record isn't out yet, but when it's out you MUST go buy it. it's one of my top 10 records from last year. garrison's new record is out and, from what i heard of it when we played together last year and what i heard last nite, it's another don't miss album.

-tonite, i'm debating on whether i'll stay in and watch hockey with the wife (which is what i really want to do) or if i'll go to 12th & porter to trent dabbs' cd release party. wonder if i can somehow do both...

last thing (thanks for hanging with me this far): go support local music. tell your friends about how great your favorite local acts are (hopefully i'm on that list). bring them to a show or buy them a cd. put us on your ipod and play your favorite song for coworkers. pick your favorite club and just show up once every couple of weeks to hear new bands. we (the nashville music community) can't do this without you guys, and i've heard from quite a few musician friends how little they enjoy playing in their hometown because of the lack of support. that's all the soapbox time i have...

I wish I could have made it too...by the time you went on, I was passed out. I feel you on the exhuaustion thing. It's a bitch.

Stay on that soapbox. You're an excellent spokesman for all those local musicians.

well i wasn't trying to make my 2 jags feel badly or anything...

honest. it wasn't meant as a bitch session, just saying, "hey. if you like it, tell your friends."

so, in that respect, i'm just like a drug pusher. check out my pinky nail...
